OVERALL

I love how active Jason and I are when we’re up on Cape Cod!  Not only do I regularly go to Yoga on the Beach and paddle board, but we’ve been meeting with the Mashpee Marathon Sports for their weekly group runs!

I’m finally beginning to build up my mileage past the half marathon distance as I train for the Dumbo Double Dare and the New York City Marathon.  We’ve been incredibly lucky this year with the weather, it’s been a little humid, but not anything like the heat and humidity we had last summer!

NEXT WEEK

MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 6

Wednesday – SUP Race (6 miles)

Thursday – run (3 miles)

Friday – cross train (bike or SUP)

Saturday – 16 mile run

Anyone else building milage for a fall marathon or half?

What race are you training for??

    • Well I have to admit that having been a gymnast (a long time ago!) I’ve sort of always been able to do a handstand, so it’s not necessarily just from doing yoga, but it’s gotten “better”/ steadier in the past year or so!

  1. I *should* be working on building mileage for the Newburyport Half in October (my first half… yikes!) but I’ve fallen into that dangerous place where October feels so far away so I have time. I need to snap out of that soon! 🙂 Your active Cape summer sounds so lovely!

    • Haha, yeah, I hear you, October does seem far, but it’ll be here before you know it!

Good luck training for your first half and be sure to let me know how it goes!

  2. Great job on increasing your mileage. I was set to run MCM, and since I have deferred, I am not sure what my goal race will be this fall. One goal is to place in my AG at Tower of Terror. Hopefully Christine will help me along!

  3. Someone else posted the handstand photo on IG, and all I could think was “Danielle’s looked better, her feet were together!” 🙂 Slowly – like frozen molasses slow – I’m building up my mileage for the Wine and Dine. The distance is no biggie, but that Disney PR is. And OMG, I’m looking at Madison’s pic right now and just want to smooch that adorable face! XOXOXOXO

    • Haha, aw, thanks!

You’re training is looking good for that PR attempt! I for some reason have a thing about never trying to PR at Disney…I always feel like I just want to enjoy those races and I’ll try for PR’s at non-Disney races!

  4. I have Marine Corps Marathon on tap with a few races scattered around that. Excited to be headed up that way for the Gulf Beach and Surftown Half Marathon in September. Too bad the weather won’t be like you have now but it should be nice (I hope).

    • September should be great for races in Connecticut! I’ve actually looked at both those races but have never actually done them! I’ll have to take a look at my training plan and see if either of those fit in for long run days!

  5. Nice! Looks like you’re staying very active! Keep it up! I haven’t decided which fall races I want to do yet, but I’m trying to maintain my fitness as best I can thru the Texas summer. Can’t wait for the cooler temps and fast races!

  6. Dual training for last sprint tri and dumbo double dare….though I’ve done more biking than long distance running, so I’ll probably just do ALOT more walking (since I do alot of walking too) for my disney race weekend. Good excuse to take more photos since I won’t be going for time 🙂
