Hello All!
I didn’t want to leave you hanging on a recap of the 10k, but I landed back in New York late last night and I start classes today, so I figured I’d bring in a friend to guest post and tell you all about it!
So, without further ado, please welcome today’s guest blogger – LIGHTNING McQUEEN!
Hi there! I am so excited to be here on Live, Run, Grow to tell you all about the Disneyland 10k while Danielle gets settled in at home and back to school!
So, let’s get started!
Sally, Mater and I got up bright and early, filled our tanks with some pre-race fuel and put on some Rust-eze medicated bumper ointment to avoid any chafing (had to throw in a little sponsor love!) before heading out to meet up with Guido, Luigi and Fillmore (and our caution cones!)
We attracted quite a bit of attention as we made our way through the crowds, but I guess that’s what happens when you’re such a big celebri-car!
We got to our corral in time for the national anthem and a few minutes later the starting gun went off and we were on our way!
The first few miles we cruised along comfortably enjoying the scenery, but when we got to our favorite little town on Route 66 we just had to stop for a few pictures!
Luigi & Guido stopped in at their shop…
…where Guido was nice enough to change my tire quick!
The cones checked in on the motel…
…we all stopped at the junkyard with Mater…
…and Fillmore picked up some more organic fuel for us for the rest of the race!
After we left Radiator Springs, we drove through the rest of California Adventure…
…and then into Disneyland!
We even stopped to say hello to some of our other car friends!
The rest of the race went pretty quickly and before we knew it we were crossing the finish line and getting our beautiful medals!
I am so proud of all my friends, and best of all we had a GREAT time!
Thanks everyone for stopping by and reading about the Disneyland 10k race with all my friends, we had so much fun and I’m glad I could share it with you! And don’t forget to pop in and say hello if you’re ever in Radiator Springs!
KA-CHOW!
Thanks Lightning! Disneyland Half Marathon recap coming soon, and in the meantime if you missed it, be sure to check out the fun pictures on the Dumbo Double Dare: The Costume Teaser post!
UPDATE: You can find all the information on where the Cars shirts came from HERE!
Read this on the plane waiting to take off. SO cute! Love the outfits! Looks like you guys had a great time. Can’t wait to see you at another race! 🙂
Thanks Christine, we had such a good time! Glad I finally decided to try out the whole costume thing! Definitely can’t wait to get together again, we’ll have to chat about Marine Corp training too!
Still love your group costume!!!! Such a fun idea to be cars!!! Looks like the 10k was better for pictures etc than the half, too many lines for photo ops!
Thanks! The lines were kinda long for the 10k pics too (especially since we started pretty far back), but we didn’t stop for many pics that had lines, just a lot of background stuff in Cars Land – we weren’t running for time at all though, the 10k took us almost as long as a half marathon! We had a blast though!
Oh wow! Yea I’m working on my half recap right now and I too didn’t really stop for photo ops since I started in corral C and lines were already long…mostly I took picts of other people as I ran by, lol. I think its great you had a group to run with for all those cool photos even without the characters! And good to know those lines were long too, I had no idea if that would be better or not than the half.
Love it, especially the cones.
Thanks Lesley, the cones were a last minute addition, but they TOTALLY added to the whole thing, people really loved them!
Too cute! You totally caught me for a second that this was a guest post. Sounded like a great race! Good luck with the start of school, and once your schedule calms a bit, let’s meet up!
Yeah, we had a lot of fun! We’ll definitely have to get together once stuff settles down, I’m out of town the next few weekends, but stuff slows down a little towards the end of September.
I love this! So cute!!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun : )

Your costumes really were so cute! Loved them! And it looks like you had a total blast! Maybe after Doug does enough of these, he’ll be okay with stopping and taking some pictures…and we get a better corral 🙂
Haha, yes! You need to do one where you completely disregard time and make it your goal to take as many pictures as possible! You can run a regular old 10k anywhere – fun pictures are what makes a Disney race special!

Ahhh! I totally saw your group many times on the course!! Bummer we didn’t get a chance to meetup.
Haha, oh too bad! That’s one of the reasons I wanted to share my costume on the blog beforehand, but it was also fun to keep it a surprise!
