RECAP (2/23-3/1)
Monday – 4 mile run and 1 hour spin class
Tuesday – rest day
Wednesday – 6 mile run (*longest treadmill run I’ve ever done!)
Thursday – 30 minute pool workout
Friday – 6 mile run
I love all the friends Jason and I have to run with on the Cape! Today we met up with Jen and Kyle for 6 miles along a snow covered path.
Saturday – 6.2 mile run
Since the 10k we were supposed to run was canceled we decided to run our own 10k! Hard packed snow and ice made for a slow but challenging run!
Today was also #RuNGuac 2015! Basically a group from my run club got together and ran in the morning and then we all went out and stuffed our faces at our favorite mexican place, it was fantastic!
Sunday – rest day
Weekly Mileage – 22 miles
2015 Mileage – 147 miles
Overall
I’m starting to try to build my mileage up again – this is the first 20+ mile week I’ve had since the Goofy Challenge!
Running has been an interesting mix of the treadmill (which I’ve seen more of than I’d like…) and snowy/icy/slushy paths. As much as I enjoy running in the cooler weather I’m certainly looking forward to having some bare pavement to run on!
I’m also still not registered for any races in 2015 yet! I really need to get on top of it and starting choosing a few races for the spring and fall.
I prefer summer. The heat doesn’t bother me as much as the cold.
Since I do not have a spring marathon I’m only doing short outside runs and doing lots of treadmill runs.
Cheers – Andy
I actually think I’d rather run in the cold than the heat…it’s really the ice and all the piles of snow around here that are making it so difficult!
Cold is relative I guess–it’s been right around 30 for my last couple of runs, and I am pretty unprepared for that. I can do it now and then, but it’s not my favorite. But then again, it gets brutally hot here in the summer (summer = early May thru October, usually) so I enjoy those occasional days in which the temps are around 40 when I run. That pretty much happens sporadically from November to March, with colder and warmer days thrown in too. Texas weather is unpredictable. 😉
Haha, yes, good point, cold is very relative! We’ve had some pretty cold temperatures in New England this winter, but I’m sure that’s “balmy” to our friends in Michigan and Canada! I certainly don’t envy your summers though!
The treadmill. We had bad weather last week and I had to adjust my workouts. I still accomplished stuff but it’s trying knowing I can’t get outside.
Yeah, it’s really the ice and snow piles that are keeping me on the treadmill – I can’t wait to get back outside though!
I am super over winter running. I did 11 miles solo yesterday in the snow/freezing rain, and it was not super fun. Very glad I’m doing a spring half and not a spring full.
I agree, I’m glad I didn’t end up registering for the spring full I was considering!
My winter running so far has been all treadmill, except for one really really cold 5k race. While I don’t mind the treadmill, I miss the fresh air and scenery.
Being outside is one of my favorite parts of running so I really do miss that when I’m stuck on the treadmill!
WINE AND DINE REGISTRATION TOMORROW!!!!!! …not that i’m excited or counting down or anything 🙂
Mission Accomplished.
My winter running has been a mix of long runs on the treadmill (up to 12 miles!) and short runs outside. I know you’re supposed to do it the other way around but this has been working for me! I can’t wait to SPRING!
Stick with what works! My longest treadmill run is only 6 miles…not sure I could do double that!
