2014 Year End Review

What a great year it’s been!  There were many great races (and a few PR’s!), but I think for Jason and I, 2014 will be remembered as the year we decided to make a major change in our lives, leave our jobs in New York and move to Cape Cod!

Here are some of my highlights from 2014!

In January I completed the Inaugural Dopey Challenge

…and in February Jason and I went on our first Disney Cruise where I ran the Castaway Cay 5k!

March brought a new half marathon PR of 1:54:42!

…and in May I took a bit of a running break and spent more time on my yoga mat.

In June I tackled my first triathlon – it went, ummm….ok.

July was a great month!

Jason and I came up to Cape Cod (just for our few weeks of vacation at the time!) and began running with the local Marathon Sports Run Club where we met some of our great new Cape Cod friends!

Cape Cod AlohaClearly we had a great few weeks on Cape Cod in July, because in August we decided to pack up life in New York and move up to the Cape full time!

In September Jason and I took a trip to California for the Disneyland Half Marathon, we ran the 10k together and I ran the half marathon with my friends Daniel & Tana (and I had my first mid-race face plant!).

…but come race day in November everything went smoothly and I even managed a marathon PR!  (Followed by a trip to the medical tent!)

But November wasn’t quite over…the weekend after NYCM I was off to Florida for my 4th Wine & Dine Half Marathon!

And finally in December Jason and I got in our last few long training runs for runDisney Marathon Weekend and enjoyed some of the fun activities in our new town, like the Jingle Jog!

  1. Wow, you had a fabulous year getting PR’s in 4 race distances. The photo with Madison is adorable. Our pets seem to age so quickly though….I can’t believe Lulu turns 5 this year. It seems like yesterday that she was a tiny puppy getting up to so much mischief!

    • Haha, well honestly, the 5k & 10k PR’s don’t really count because I’ve never really “raced” a 5 or 10k – I’ve only done the Disney ones! This year I’d love to really race one and see how I do!

  2. Hi Dani, I loved reading your year in review! When we all look back it has been a good year! Amazing how time flies….can it really be 8 years ago that Madison arrived? What a great joy she has been (disregarding her first few months as she got used to us)!! Happy New Year and good luck in all your new ventures. I am so proud and happy you were able to make the changes in your life and go for what would make you happy. Love ya tons , Mom
