I am going to let you in on one of my marathon training secrets – Cheribundi!
I first discovered Cheribundi during training for Marathon #1 when my husband suggested I try it after he saw it at work (work being the lockerroom of a professional sports team, so it was a tip worth listening to!). I have to admit that my first reaction to drinking cherry juice was “Gross!”. But, I was willing to try just about anything if it was going to help with my post-long run muscle soreness.
Admission #2 – I actually drank my first bottle of Cheribundi holding my nose because I was so worried about the taste (did I mention I don’t actually like cherries??).
Well, once I got brave enough to try drinking it without holding my nose, guess what?? I actually really liked it!
It had this tangy, tart taste that’s really refreshing!
Because I love Cheribundi, I love you guys, and Cheribundi loves me (ok, fine, I made that part up), they’ve offered to give away a case of Cheribundi to one lucky Live, Run, Grow reader! Info on how to enter is below, but first a bit more on why the heck you should be drinking cherry juice!
What I received:
- Tart Cherry Juice (100% juice)
- Tart Cherry Juice Light (65% juice + water and natural sweetener)
- Tart Cherry Juice – Relax (65% juice + L-Theanine)
- Tart Cherry Juice – Restore (65% juice + electrolytes & vitamins)
- Tart Cherry Juice – Rebuild (95% juice + whey protein)
(*they also have new Fruit Refresh and Tea Refresh lines that I’m dying to try!)
The Magical Benefits of Cherry Juice:
- reduces muscle damage and inflammation (hello runners!)
- decreases muscle recovery time
- packed with antioxidants
- encourages melatonin which improves sleep
- fights triglycerides which combat heart disease
The Tart Cherry Juice, Light, Relax and Refresh all look like the sample above on the right, the only one that looks and tastes a little different is the Rebuild which is slightly thicker due to the added whey protein. All are very light and refreshing (especially if they’re nice and cold!).
Ready to give it a try? Here’s how you can win your own sample pack of Cheribundi (a $30 value):

Is that a freshly power washed cherry red brick patio I see in the background of your of your picture? Nice touch…! Dad
Haha, thought you’d like that : )
1. love that your dad comments (neither of my parents understand blogs)
2. The light and rebuild sound the most appealing to me. Cherry juice doesn’t automatically turn me off, but I’m a little worried about how much sugar is in this…
1. Haha, thanks, I’ll let my dad know he has some fans : )
2. Yes, if you’re concerned about sugar intake there is about the same as any other juice, but better than what’s in some recovery drinks I think
I love cherries so it sounds yummy to me. I am most interested in that it decreases muscle recovery time.
So by any chance was your dad responsible for that freshly power washed patio:)
Haha, yup…Dad spent about 2 days power washing that patio : )
First off I love that your dad comments on your blog! He is awesome!
Secondly I love cherries, the tarter the better! Yummm!!
And thirdly I am most interested in the Light & Relax, they sound awesome…and if it helps fight muscle inflamation & recovery I’m In!
My dad’s gaining quite the fan club! Good luck with the giveaway, thanks for entering!

I’ve been reading about the benefits of drinking cherry juice to help recovery after workouts, but I haven’t looked into any products yet. This looks really interesting, and it sounds yummy since I’ve recently discovered a love for cherries.
Good luck! I definitely recommend trying Cheribundi if you’re interested in trying cherry juice!

Definitely the help with muscle soreness is the benefit I look most forward to seeing! I am a fairly new runner (just hit 10K), and the soreness–while a good reminder something’s working–can be a hindrance. And, I love cherries, so I’m not as hesitant as you. 🙂 Love your blog!
Thanks Erika! Good luck with the giveaway (and the running!).
I’m interested in seeing how much difference there is in muscle recovery.

I love cherries so cherry juice sounds good to me, especially if it reduces muscle damage, since I’m training for a marathon.
Thanks for entering and good luck with your marathon training!
Wow! I love cherries and think it sounds delicious! My favorite benefits are that it reduces muscle damage and decreases muscle recovery time. I get sore after a long run or a hard workout, so I’d love to feel better sooner! Thank you!
@running_virgin is now following you on twitter. That’s me by the way 🙂
Ahhh, sorry for sending another comment but i am also following @cheribundi. Take care
I saw Cheribundi (I’m pretty sure that was the brand) at a 10mile race I ran a year or two ago. My thoughts? Um…interesting. But then I tried it and really enjoyed it! But would love to try the different types!

I like the fact that it encourages melatonin which improves sleep! And cherry juice is ok… I’ve always liked fruit juice 🙂
I love eating fresh cherries, especially when I can get them at the farmers’ markets during the summer. I think I would like the tart Cherry Juice Rebuild with the whey protein, as I am looking for another way to get whey protein in my diet. Sounds refreshing and delicious!
Reduces inflammation!

Great post… just finished my first official half and I could have used some Cheribundi for recovery for sure. I am most interested in using Cheribundi for muscle recovery and to help with heart health too. I actually love cherries and cherry juice so I think “sweet”, bring it on. I am a big fan of chocolate milk for recovery but I’d prefer a lighter, natural recovery drink that’s not too heavy. I am eager to try Cheribundi out for my half training and sprint triathlons too. Thanks!
I love cherries — and Cheribundi! I knew about the antioxidants but the melatonin/sleep affect is very interesting.
