Can you believe that three years ago today I published my first blog post?! It’s amazing how quickly time goes!
I began blogging shortly after I ran my first race – the 2011 Wine & Dine Half Marathon…
…I’ve always thought of my blog as sort of a personal journal that just happens to be open for others to read. I enjoy recapping my race experiences, documenting my training, sharing running information and just having a place to write (as a communications/ journalism major who works in event management I don’t get to do as much writing as I’d like!).
Since I began running about 3 and a half years ago I’ve run 5 marathons, 14 half marathons, over a dozen shorter distance races and this year I ventured WAY out of my comfort zone and completed 2 sprint triathlons – all things just a few years ago I could only have dreamed of doing, but you know what they say…
In addition to accomplishing so many goals I am incredibly proud of, I have met countless wonderful people through running and blogging that I feel fortunate to call friends (yes I’m talking about YOU!).
To celebrate I’ve decided to move up a giveaway that I had been planning on including in my upcoming Runner’s Holiday Wishlist post (but stay tuned for some additional discounts & giveaways in that!).
This giveaway is PERFECT to celebrate an anniversary where I’m looking back on my 3 years of running, because it’s a great way to preserve race day memories!
I have to admit, I’m pretty picky when it comes to shirts (for running and in general), so I pretty much never wear race shirts.
But what to do with all of them??
Make a blanket of course!
I had always had it in the back of my head that I’d eventually have all my my race shirts made into a quilt, I just needed a) to collect enough shirts and b) find a reasonably priced t-shirt to quilt option! (Because let’s be honest, I can’t even sew a button on to anything, so I’m sure as heck not making myself a quilt!)
Enter Project Repat!
I had recently seen a few friends posting pictures of these amazing t-shirt blankets and figured it was about time I dig out all my race shirts and get one made for myself!
I contact Project Repat to let them know I was planning on including them on my Runner’s Holiday Wishlist and they generously offered to provide a giveaway for $100 towards having a t-shirt blanket made!
And not only that, if you don’t win the giveaway (or if you want to order your blanket before the winner’s announced!), they’ve provided me with a discount code for EVERYONE to get 20% off their order (info at the end of the post) – how great is that!
Project Repat isn’t just a great way to upcycle your race shirts (or any shirts!), but you’ll actually be helping the environment and the economy too – just check out this great graphic that really explains the impact of a Project Repat blanket:
So interesting, right?! Oh, and did you notice they use PolarTec fleece to back the blankets? How cozy does that sound!
Basically all you have to do is place your order. Send them your shirts. And voila – a few weeks later a beautiful comfy blanket lands back on your doorstep!
Since I’ve just started my Project Repat process (I placed my order the other day and am just boxing up my shirts!), my friend Carlee who has a Project Repat blanket offered to let me post a picture of her finished product so you can see how amazing they come out!
I’ll be sure to post pictures & updates as I send out my shirts and get my blanket back, but in the meantime, are you ready to order your own Project Repat blanket??
Here’s how to enter to win $100 off a Project Repat blanket:
- Leave a comment letting me know – Whats your favorite way to preserve race day memories? OR What event is your favorite race shirt from?
(**Although I’ve been blogging for 3 years I have yet to switch over to a self hosted blogging platform, so unfortunately I can’t host a Rafflecopter giveaway right on my site – hopefully one day soon, but for now you’ll have to take a detour to enter!**)
This giveaway will be open until Thursday, November 27th at midnight at which time a winner will be randomly chosen and notified.
And if you don’t want to wait for the giveaway winner to be announced and want to get your order in on time for the holidays (shirts must be sent to them by December 1st!), then use discount code “repatlrg” for 20% off your order!
Thank you for stopping by (and coming back!) and here’s to another year of Living, Running and Growing!
**Disclaimer: I have not received any compensation from Project Repat for this post, I reached out to them to let them know I was planning on including them on my Runner’s Holiday Wishlist post and they very generously offered a giveaway and discount code for Live Run Grow readers!**
