OVERALL

Well, as you can see my workouts were pretty much non-existant other than the two races this weekend!  It’s felt like such a busy week between starting to sort through all our stuff in New York to pack to move, then we flew out to California, spent a few days in the parks, ran some races and we’re back in New York now getting ready to get back to work on our packing!

Re-caps of the Disneyland 10k & Half Marathon are coming soon, but bear with me if they take a few days since I’m going to be pretty consumed with the whole packing and moving thing!

  1. Looking forward to your recaps! Hope you had lots of fun! I haven’t moved in six years, but before that I’d moved 5 times in 8 years. My best tip is to mark EVERYTHING that’s in each box. I found that marking just “living room” or “bedroom” wasn’t enough, especially since it can take a while to open and unpack everything. Makes finding everything easier. And put the stuff you’ll need right away from various rooms together in a few boxes marked “Open First.” And my fave: Smart Tape: http://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Tape/Smart-Move-Tape?mid=90 Color-coordinated and marked by room, makes sorting boxes a breeze! Good luck with all the packing!

  2. congrats on dumbo! i did it too, that’s so cool you got a pic with pluto and your medal. i also have a 16 mile long run this saturday that i’m dreading after dumbo this weekend. good luck!

  3. It’s been said but label everything. When getting to the new place, I always put my bed together immediately since I still have energy to do it and I know I’ll be exhausted by the end of the day. I also put bedroom boxes in the bedroom, living room boxes in the living, etc. It helps break down the stacks of boxes and take away that feeling of never going to be able to unpack.

  4. Congratulations on finishing the Dumbo Double Dare! I ran the Disneyland Half and had so much fun! The weather could have been a little cooler though.

Walking around the park definitely counts as exercise! Ha, it’s crazy how quickly the miles add up. I have definitely been enjoying my rest days.

Packing tips… Definitely label the boxes with what room they should go in or the general overview of what is in them! It also helps if you make a list that’s a little more detailed to place just on top of the items in the box. Another tip that I like is to put necessities in a clear box, so they stand out!

Good luck with your move! 🙂
