Good Morning!

I couldn’t have asked for a better day for my 20 mile run!  Clear skies and sunny, about 45 degrees (although honestly it doesn’t feel quite that cold out).

I’m getting ready to head out and just though I would write a quick pre-run post.  My new Garmin came in yesterday and I spend awhile last night getting it set up – the hardest part was changing the darn wrist strap!  The one it came with was way too big (I always have this problem, I have oddly small wrists), so I needed to change it to one of the adjustable velcro ones – NOT an easy task!

This is what my kitchen table looked it:

The watch came with this tiny tool that you are supposed to use the “compress” the pins to be able to take off and switch the straps, but of course I immediately broke it.  I almost gave up and shoved the whole thing back in the box (I am not known for my patience), but I finally managed to get the original strap off and put the smaller one on.  Honestly the watch still looks like a grandfather clock on my tiny wrist and I’m worried it will be uncomfortable, but I guess I’ll find out today on my run!

So I just finished breakfast (oatmeal with brown sugar and walnuts, OJ & coffee):

And have my running clothes all out and ready to go:

I have two hour long podcasts and some music cued up (I like to plan out what I’m going to listen to for a long run so I’m not trying to fiddle with my iPod).

Now I’m just going to jump in the shower, stretch for a bit, pack up my “fuel” and I’m off!

See you in 20 miles!

P.S. I just signed up for Twitter, @dnardi710 – if you want to follow me I may tweet a few times along the way!

  1. Can’t wait to hear how it goes! I work with Beth and she told me about your running and your new blog. You inspired me to get in my run today. I did about 4 miles (I think). My ipod died at 3.7 miles so now I don’t have an accurate distance and time. I will it to verify the distance. My goal is to do a disney half marathon also. I am considering the Wine and Dine. I wanted to do the one in February but the flights were too expensive. Good luck!

    • Hi Pam, thank you so much for checking out the blog! I am so glad to hear that it inspired you to go out for a run today! My 20 miles today went…well, for now let’s just say it went! I did complete the full 20 but the last couple were quite painful and I’m really worried about having to do another 6 on top of that for a full marathon – I’ll write a full post on it tomorrow or Monday though.

I’m sure you would love any one of the Disney races, I had such a great time at Wine & Dine and LOVED that it was at night! If you haven’t already you should definitely check out my friend Jenn’s blog EatSleepRunDisney, the Disney Running 101 section was a HUGE help to me when I was planning for my first race there!

I’m always happy to help to if you have any questions!

      • I will check out that web site. I got married at Disney world. We got married in the chapel and our reception was at the terrace in Epcot with fireworks with dinner. Then when the park closed we stayed there for dessert and dancing. So of course a big milestone like a marathon or a half is something I’d like to do in Disney. Glad you made it. It is a daunting run.
