OVERALL
The last two weeks were primarily focused on rest and recovery after the Goofy Challenge (does anyone else always get sick after a marathon?!?). I did try out a pool class at the gym I work at which I actually LOVED! It was a great workout and definitely something I’m going to try to get to regularly!
Now that the Goofy Challenge is over Jason and I are both contemplating what our next race is going to be – I literally am not registered for anything right now! We’re considering a few different spring half marathons in our area and to be honest I’m sort of tempted to do another full this spring!
YES! Never fails. I came home sick from Goofy, too. With the combination of lack of sleep + pushing your body through hours of physical agony + drastic temperature change + germ-infested theme parks, I don’t know how anybody DOESN’T get sick.
I’m in the same boat as you right now. It feels like I’ve never NOT had another race to train for, and right now, we have absolutely nothing on the horizon! However, Todd is working on getting me to sign up for the NJ Marathon. After NYCM and Goofy, I was kind of looking forward to a break…but, at the same time, I definitely have the “itch” to take on another full ASAP. *Sigh* ;-D
I feel like I need to have a race on the calendar or I start to get lazy about running!
Yes, everyone else gets sick after a marathon. Someone on twitter even says it has a name – “marathon flu”. In my opinion, it’s our immune system being suppressed from the running and then the germ filled airplane ride home! Hope you’re feeling great this week!
Ha, I love that – “marathon flu” is exactly what I get! I agree, I think marathons just wipe out my immune system!
Dumbo registration tomorrow. Perfect Dumbo for you. 10th Anniversay DL half bling for you and Jason. Just sayin 🙂
Sort of missed it…oops!
My next race is a 5k on Valentine’s Day. My first 5k since September, but the first one I’ll really be “racing” since May!
Good luck! I really need to start racing some shorter distances!
