I love this quote by Kathrine Switzer (the first woman to run the Boston Marathon) and I have been meaning to post it for awhile.
There is something so pure about running a marathon.
People from all over the world, from all walks of life, all ages, all shapes and all sizes come together to share in the epic experience of covering 26.2 miles.
You will learn things you never knew about yourself while running a marathon. You will reach into unknown depths of your soul to run, walk or crawl across that finish line.
My soul hurts watching an event like the Boston Marathon be robbed of its purity.
But runners are strong. You have to be to finish 26.2 miles.
Love and good thoughts to everyone in Boston.
Short, sweet and excellently put. My heart goes out to Boston.
(((Hugs)))
I love that quote from Kathrine Switzer. I met her at a race in New York City. She was just as gracious as you’d hope. They’re the appropriate words for this moment. It just heartsick.
God bless
