I’m a ‘GREATIST’!

Ok, so if you’re not familiar with Greatist.com, you MUST check it out! Greatist is a site whose mission it is to inspire and encourage others to be the ‘greatist’ they can be by providing short, easy to read, information packed posts on all things health, fitness and happiness!

I LOVE the Greatist site and always look forward to seeing what fun, new information they have to share, which…is why I’m excited to tell you I’ve been chosen to be a Greatist Ambassador!

About a month ago I received an e-mail from Greatist announcing their new ambassador program, this is what it said:

greatist. noun. [gray-tist]
a person who makes healthier choices

Greatist Ambassador. super noun. [gray-tist- am-bass-a-door]
a person who makes healthier choices and inspires others to do the same

Why Should I Become A Greatist Ambassador?

By becoming a Greatist Ambassador, you take on the awesome challenge of not only making better choices for yourself, but promising to empower, inform, and inspire others to become greatists, too. At the same time, we want to reward people who are already inspiring others to be healthier and happier! Together, we can impact and improve people’s lives, one small choice at a time — and that’s pretty kickass.

Sounded pretty good to me! So, I sent in my application – here’s a bit of what I wrote:

A little over a year ago I decided to challenge myself to go from non-runner (and sworn running hater) to half marathoner. Along the way I fell in love with the way running, training and living a healthier life made me feel – not just while working out, but all the time! I was a happier, more confident person…and I liked that person! After I conquered 13.1 miles I kept going and completed my first full marathon 8 months after I started running.

I’m currently in the process of getting my 200 hour yoga teacher certification and am working towards a career change. My goal is to be fully transitioned in to the health and fitness field in 5 years, where I can help others realize their healthy living goals. I’m committed to being the ‘Greatist’ me I can be and I’d love to spread Greatist’s mission by sharing my experiences, providing healthy living tips and helping others work towards their personal goals.

Yesterday I got an e-mail telling me I’d been chosen! I’m excited to work with such a great group and really looking forward to trying to encourage others to be the ‘greatist’ they can be!

  1. Hey Dani…
You have really come a long way… and I know you will make a difference for every person who crosses your path. “YOU” are the greatest, and I am proud of you!!!
    love…dad

  2. Hey Dani,
You have always been the greatest to me and now you can show the world. I know you will succeed at whatever you put your mind to.
You inspired me to take the challenge of a 5k and best if all I share that time with 2 of my favorite people … You and Chrissy !!
Love you and so proud if your new direction!!
    Love ,
    Mom

  3. I’ve mentioned this before, but with so many followers, you probably don’t recall, you’ve definitely inspired me as well! I was a running hater as well, ran my first 1/2 in February, running my 2nd 1/2 in 2 days (see you at the W&D) and aiming for Goofy for it’s 10th anniversary! As a starting later in life runner (although not THAT late, but you know what I mean), it’s good to see someone else do that same thing!

My sister actually knows someone who didn’t start running till he was 40 and has run 50 marathons since then! (OK, it’s over 35 years, but still impressive!)

    • Thank you so much for the note! It’s so nice to know that sharing my journey and experiences may inspire and help others! There are so many people (both “real life” friends and bloggers) who have inspired me with my running and with my decision to go back to school, the least I can try to do is pass it on!

On my way to the airport now (my original flight was canceled!), if you happen to see me down there please say hello!
