Today is my last day at my job. I’m excited and sad and nervous all at the same time (so I guess confused explains it best).
As much as I know this is the right move for me, there are definitely things I’ll miss about it – namely a lot of the people I work with. The good news is I’m most likely still going to come back and work some games and events for them (once the NHL decides to start playing hockey again!), so it’s not really goodbye, more like “see you later“.
Then, there are the things I won’t miss – commuting into the city (although I guess 40 minutes on the train is better than 40 minutes of driving), the crazy hours of working in professional sports, working in such a corporate environment and staring at a computer screen under flourescent lights which causes me to get headaches EVERY. DAY.
I think it will really help that I have an immediate distraction to keep me from over thinking the fact that I’ve left – tomorrow I leave for Orlando for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler and then Tuesday when I get back I start one of my new adventures – yoga teacher training (more on that in another post)!
Today after work I’m going out with co-workers for my last day. My department has always sort of refered to ourselves as “The Band” – as in because I’m leaving I’m “breaking up the band”. So…I made us all surprise t-shirts for tonight’s outing!
The back says, “If you’re on the team, you’re on the team, but you’re in the band. And in band, there is no bench.”
They’re going to love them, I can’t wait to give them to them this morning!
Off to break up the band, I mean my last day at work!
