Weekly Training Recap and Goals

This training recap is long overdue since I did not post one last week, however other than the actual marathon I have to admit that pretty much all I did was stretch, foam roll and try to prepare (and then recover!) my body for 26.2 miles!

RECAP (1/2-1/8)

Monday – 3 mile run in Philadelphia

Tuesday – none

Wednesday – none

Thursday – long work day

Friday – flight to Florida

Saturday – walking around Disney and lots of pre-race stretching

Sunday – WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON (ice bath, foam rolling & Cheribundi for recovery)

 (1/9-1/15)

Monday – flight home from Florida (wore compression pants on the flight, epsom salt bath, foam rolling & stretching when I got home)

Tuesday – long work day

Wednesday – none

Thursday – long work day

Friday – none

Saturday – 45 minutes elliptical

Sunday – 3 mile run, 30 minutes elliptical (first post-marathon run!)

Overall – I still can not believe that I finished a full marathon, and not only that, but I did it in under 5 hours!  I think one of the most important things I learned during my training process was to really listen to my body.  If I felt tired, I took a day off.  If a run wasn’t going well, l I cut it short.  The result was that I went into this marathon thinking I wasn’t as prepared as I should have been since I didn’t exactly stick to my training plan, however in reality I was well prepared and my body was well rested and ready to go!  My goal for this marathon was not only to finish 26.2 miles, but I wanted to enjoy the experience (both training and race day) and I have to say that I definitely did!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK –

Repeat from a couple of weeks ago because it just seems so appropriate after Disney Marathon Weekend!

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney
