I hope everyone had a happy and healthy holiday! I started off the morning with a quick 3 mile run and then met my friend Amanda and her dog Piper for a 3 mile walk. Amanda and I used to work together, but since I’ve moved out of state we don’t get to see each other very often, we e-mail regularly and have gotten in the habit of meeting for long walks whenever I am in town- I love that this has become our “thing” instead of just meeting for coffee or drinks, it’s a great healthy way to catch up!
As Thanksgiving winds down I just wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on some of the things I am thankful for this year. Of course my family and our health is always at the top of the list and today we were celebrating something in addition to Thanksgiving – my grandparents 65th anniversary!
I can only hope that my husband and I are lucky enough to be together that long!
On my run this morning I also spent a lot of time thinking about how thankful I am that running is now a part of my life. A year ago I would never have believed it if someone had told me that by next Thanksgiving I would be in the middle of training for a marathon! I am very thankful that I met my friend Kerry, whose battle with leukemia was my inspiration to start running. While I only new Kerry for a short time I learned so many valuable lessons from her and I truly believe I am a better person for having known her.
Now on to something fun! Around Halloween a co-worker and I decided it would be fun to start a Holiday Sock Club! So…here are our Thanksgiving socks:
Right now it’s just the two of us in the club but we’re confident it will catch on around the office soon!
