I am a HUGE fan of compression – seriously, it’s like hugs for your legs – so I was really excited when I received an e-mail from BibRave letting me know as a BibRave Pro, I’d be receiving a pair of Zensah Ultra Compression Leg Sleeves to try out!
The sizes are determined by your calf circumference, so I did some measuring and decided to go with size medium in white (white goes with everything, right?!).
I have to admit the first thing I noticed when they arrived was the packaging claimed they’d have an “extra tight fit”…I love compression, but I have to be honest, “extra tight” made me a little nervous!
The Zensah website lists the key features of the Ultra Compression Leg Sleeve as:
- Shin Splint Relief and Calf Support
- Improve Circulation and Decrease Muscle Recovery Time
- Maisture Wicking and Anti-Odor
- Snug Fit for Extra Compression

I decided to take these out for a test run last weekend when I was planning to do 8 miles (my longest run since my January marathon!) on some fresh snow – if my legs were going to need a little extra support on any run, this would probably be it!
I’ve mentioned that I love compression and use it often for my long runs and recovery, but I’ve actually only used compression pants and socks, this would be my first time trying out sleeves. One of the nice things about the sleeves is that you can still use your favorite socks with them!
Getting into these sleeves was a bit like trying to get into wetsuit – the “extra tight fit” was no joke! In fact for the first few minutes I kept telling Jason that I felt like my legs were suffocating and that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep them on for the run…fortunately, that feeling went away pretty quickly and by the time we started running I had pretty much forgotten I had them on!
With fresh snow underfoot it was a tough run, but my legs felt pretty good and I really enjoyed the feeling of the compression, plus like I said, it was nice having just the sleeves and still being able to run in my favorite socks (it’s actually one of the reasons that my current compression socks don’t get used on runs much!).
Zensah also makes not only full compression socks, but a bunch of other great compression technology gear!
Not sure if you want compression socks or sleeves?? Check out this fun graphic on the Zensah website to help you decide!
It actually turns out that according to this I’m a Compression Socks person which makes total sense since I have plantar fasciitis so my feet appreciate the extra support!
